Mrs. Rumi Ishore took over the responsibility of Headmistress of Army Primary School, Cooch Behar with effect from 01 Aug 2026. Prior to taking over the respect of Headmistress, she had 06 years experience in various schools and also she had been serving as an assistant Teacher at Army Primary School, Cooch Behar, West Bengal since 2008.
Academically, she holds a BA(Eng), MA (Eng) from Gauhati University and B.Ed from All India Edu Society and also holds D.EL.ED from National Institute Of Open School. With a strong commitment of fostering academic excellence and holistic development, she believes in leveraging her experience, organisational skills, and innovative approach to create a nurturing and disciplined learning environment. Her core strengths lie in problem-solving, decision making and adaptability, which she aims to utilize for the overall growth of the institution and well being of every student.
HISTORY
Army Primary School, Cooch Behar was established on 01 sep 1975 by an Artillery Bn garrisoned at Cooch Behar, Military station. The School was then known as ‘ Gunner Public school’ functioning up to Class V. Consequent to the opening of Kendriya Vidyalya at Cooch Behar in 1982 the Classes from III to V were shifted to Kendriya Vidyalya and school functioned up to class II. Over the years the school has undergone transformation & upgradation under the mentorship of various Army Units stationed at Cooch Behar Military Station. The School was Upgraded to Class V again during the academic session 2009-2010. The school was renamed as “Kirpan Army Primary School” in the year 2015-16. The school was re-christened as “Army Primary School” Cooch Behar with effect from academic year 2021-2022 to till date.

Army Primary School, Cooch Behar is an English medium educational institution which aims at providing quality education to the children of not only to Army personnel, but also to Para Military forces & local Populace. The school is being run under the aegis of Army Unit stationed at Cooch Behar Military Garrison. The school is affiliated to WBSEB & follows the syllabus as prescribed by Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), New Delhi for pre primary & primary wings.
